About Me

I’m Kim Rogers, founder of The Butterfly Mind. I’m a Dance Wellbeing and Mindset Coach, Mental Health First Aider, NLP Practitioner, and dance teacher, but at the heart of it all, I’m someone who deeply understands the emotional weight that both teaching and growing up in the dance world can carry.

My purpose is simple, yet deeply personal. I’m here to help the younger generation navigate an ever-changing world with safety, self-acceptance, confidence, and resilience and to create spaces where teachers and educators feel safe, validated, and supported as they manage their own mental wellbeing alongside caring for others.

Everything I share is shaped not only by professional training, but by lived experience.

I know what it feels like to be exhausted, to question yourself, and to wonder how you keep going when you’ve given everything you have. And I also know that with the right support, understanding, and care, it is possible to rise again, stronger, clearer, and more grounded than before.

My Story

The Caterpillar

Dance has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. I took my first class at the age of three, and from that moment on, dance became my world.

After training at a prestigious performing arts college in 1997, I went on to enjoy a wonderful career performing on television, in theatres, and travelling the world on cruise ships, even sharing the stage with some well-known names along the way.

From the outside, it looked exciting and glamorous, and in many ways, it was.

But like so many performers, I also learned early on about pressure, expectation, and the unspoken challenges that come with life in the industry.

In 2010, I stepped into teaching freelance, and by 2013 I proudly opened my own school. From the very beginning, I was clear about what I wanted it to stand for.

This wasn’t going to be a place driven by fear or perfection. It was a space rooted in inclusion, wellbeing, and care, somewhere children could explore their emotions safely, build confidence, and develop self-awareness through dance.

By 2017, life looked full and successful on the surface. My school was thriving, I was happily married, and everything appeared to be going exactly as it should.

Yet behind the scenes, I was quietly overwhelmed, carrying the weight of responsibility, expectations, and the needs of everyone else.

Then came the moment that changed everything. One morning, I woke up so unwell I could barely walk. I was exhausted, in constant pain, and completely depleted, as though I had nothing left to give. That experience of burnout and a breakdown became a turning point, forcing me to stop and really listen to what my body and mind had been trying to tell me for a long time.

The Chrysalis

With the support of a therapist, I began to gently unravel unresolved struggles from my past and started to recognise just how deeply my mental health was impacting my physical wellbeing. What I had been pushing through for years could no longer be ignored.

I’ve always been curious by nature, so this became a season of learning. I read books late into the night, listened to countless podcasts, attended webinars, and eventually trained in NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) as I searched for ways to understand myself and rebuild from within.

Slowly, I began to see the powerful connection between mind and body and how much we carry when we don’t feel emotionally safe or supported.

Just as things were starting to make sense, the world changed. The pandemic arrived, and during lockdown my own mental health took another dip. But what struck me most wasn’t just my own struggle, it was what I was witnessing in my students.

They logged into online classes in pyjamas, drained from hours of screen time, lacking focus, motivation, and joy. They weren’t just missing dance, they were missing connection.

So I began to gently weave mindset and wellbeing into my teaching. And slowly, something shifted. Students started showing up again, not just in uniform, but with energy, smiles, and a renewed sense of fun. Watching them reconnect with themselves and with dance lit a fire in me.

I realised this work couldn’t stop with my own healing, or even within my own studio. I knew I had to take it further.

Dancer Butterfly

The Butterfly

In 2021, I designed my first dedicated mindset and wellbeing workshop, blending dance, movement, and creative activities to help students understand and care for their mental health, and what I witnessed was deeply moving.

Students began to rebuild confidence, reconnect with self-care, and develop emotional skills that reached far beyond the studio walls.

That workshop became the seed for what would grow into The Butterfly Mind, officially founded in 2022. What started as a small, heartfelt offering quickly revealed something much bigger, a clear need for change, support, and safer spaces within dance education.

Since then, I’ve had the privilege of working with around 100 schools and supporting hundreds of children across the UK. What began as a single idea has become a mission to reach as many students and educators as possible with the tools, language, and understanding they need to truly thrive.

As I move into 2026, I step fully into the coaching and wellbeing space, retiring from teaching to focus wholeheartedly on this work. I do so with clarity and conviction, knowing that my passion lies in helping to make this industry safer, healthier, and more compassionate and in continuing to support the many teachers I know are struggling quietly behind the scenes.

This is the heart of The Butterfly Mind.
A commitment to growth, protection, and lasting change, for teachers, for students, and for the future of dance.
