The Butterfly Workshop

Where dance and wellbeing finally meet.

Young dancers today face increasing pressures from comparison and perfectionism to anxiety, low confidence, and emotional overwhelm. Through my work with hundreds of young dancers across the UK, I’ve seen how these challenges can impact their motivation, body image, emotional wellbeing, and even their enjoyment of dance.

What makes these workshops different is that they aren’t lectures, assemblies, or generic wellbeing talks. They are movement-based, creative, and highly interactive sessions, designed with a child-first, sensitive, and psychologically safe approach.

Each workshop offers a calm and empowering environment where dancers can explore their emotions, build confidence, and express themselves freely.

Suitable for dance schools, performing arts academies, colleges, vocational programs, and private groups, the workshops are tailored for ages 9–18 and fully adaptable to the needs, abilities, and challenges of your students.

These sessions fill the gap many schools struggle to address, offering young dancers the emotional education, resilience tools, and supportive space they need to feel safe, seen, supported, and understood.

What the Workshops Cover

Every workshop blends movement, mindset, and creative tasks to help dancers navigate the emotional side of training.

Sessions can include:

  • Confidence & Self-Belief - Helping dancers understand their strengths, build internal motivation, and trust themselves inside and outside the studio.

  • Managing Performance Anxiety - Practical tools to recognise anxiety, regulate emotions, and approach performances with calm and clarity.

  • Reducing Comparison & Perfectionism - Giving dancers healthier ways to measure progress, celebrate individuality, and release pressure.

  • Emotional Awareness & Expression - Using dance and creativity to safely explore emotions, communicate feelings, and understand their internal world.

  • Resilience & Mindset Tools - Teaching growth mindset, reframing negative thoughts, and strategies for dealing with setbacks.
